CAMPAIGN OBJECTIVES

TRUST BUILDING

One thing that is certain to me is that everyone currently running for and serving on the Board of Education is passionate about our schools, the children, the staff, and the broader community.

Unfortunately, overtime this passion has led to divisiveness, which in turn has eroded trust.

From the time my campaign kicks off, through the end of my 3 year term in office, I will work to bring candidates, faculty, staff, and the community together in order to rebuild the trust that is currently missing in our community.

People are not perfect. As humans we are all flawed, and we all deserve some grace when considering both our own shortcomings, and those we see in others.

KINDNESS

Regardless of who you are and what you think, you should be treated with kindness.

You should also treat others with kindness.

These are messages thoughts and beliefs that I try to instill in my soon to be first grader.

The behavior that I have seen between and among board members, faculty, staff, and the community, would have resulted in my daughter being sent to the Principal’s office.

I will bring my grounded and pragmatic personality and approach to reviewing to all of my interactions with faculty, staff, other board members, and the community.

FISCAL PLANNING

For the past two years our district has been struggling to effectively communicate to all of the key stakeholders how and where our district spends it’s money.

Not only have we not effectively communicated where we spend our money, but the bulk of the community doesn’t understand the state funding formula which directly impacts what the state believes we need to pay in taxes.

This puts the district in a difficult position of needing to reduce expenses and/or raise taxes without the support of the faculty, staff, and community.

Through benchmarking with other districts and conducting community education events I believe we can all work together to build a financial plan that properly supports the education of our students.
